Composition
Each 30 gm contains :
Diclofenac 1% W/W gel contains:
Diclofenac 1.16% w/w(equivalent to Diclofenac sodium 1% w/w),
Capsaicin 0.01% w/w
Linseed oil BP- 3% w/w
Methyl salicylate IP- 10% w/w
Menthol IP- 5% w/w
Preservative: Benzyl ROH- 1% w/w
Gel Base q.s

Product Description
Diclofenac Diethylammonium is systemically absorbed through the skin, it inhibits the enzyme cyclo-oxygenase, thus reducing the formation of PGE2. Moreover, it also increases the uptake of Arachidonic acid into the cellullar pool.

Capsaisin 0.01% w/w as a counter-irritant to reduce the feel of pain more quickly.

Oleum Lini contains predominantly Essential Fatty Acids which has got a mild anti-inflammatory action.

Menthol is a vasodilator. It dilates the blood vessels, produces a feeling of coolness and produces analgesia.

Methyl salicylate is a known anti-inflammatory agent.

Topical NSAID’s – Advantages:
• It has been estimated that from 15% to over 40% of patients taking Oral NSAIDs experience upper gastrointestinal symptoms
• higher concentrations of NSAIDs are delivered to the desire site (e.g: Up to 100 times higher NSAIDs occurs in synovial fluid compared to that from NSAID blood levels
• Only 1-3% of NSAIDs is systemically absorbed, reducing the possibility of gastrointestinal upset or ulcers with the same drugs taken orally.
• Additions of Oleum lini, Menthol and Methylsalicylate offers effective counter irritant properties, increase blood supply at the site of application
• Low blood levels of the drug reduce the incidence of drug interactions with low skin irritation at the application site.
• A British trial comparing oral with topical NSAIDs has found that the creams and gels are relatively safe and effective compared to tablets

Severe pain and inflammation in

• Ankylosing spondylitis,
• Low back pain,
• Tendonitis,
• Sprain and Strain,
• Pain with swelling & Sciatica

Dosage
As directed by the physician or Apply 3-4 times a day to the affected area without rubbing vigorously
